This meeting, predestined at a time before my birth, is fated. The outcome, however, is not. Footsteps drawing near, I pull myself from deep thought to stand and face the sound.. To meet my fate. "Mr. Mulder." The man extends his hand. I do not extend mine. His hand drops to his side as a frown crosses his face. "Down to business." He pulls a pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket, taking one out and pressing it between his lips. He holds the pack out offering on my direction. I shake my head. "I heard it causes cancer." I say with a hint of sarcasm in my voice. Another frown tugs down on his lips. "You're here to bargain?" He knows damn well why I am here. "Why else would I be here." "We need your help. You're an intelligent man. You've seen things. You know things.." "But... What's in it for me? I have found my sister. What else is there?" He brings the cigarette to his lips, drawing the smoke into his lungs. "The truth? Wealth? Power? Name your price." Exhaling the smoke circles around his face. I shudder. I think about his offer. "I can't let Scully down. I just can't do that to her." "Miss Scully has already proved to be a team player. She has been coming to me since Mid January." I ponder this also. I'm sure she was angry about that New Year's thing, that would be her only reason. "If I help you and join your cause, I get the truth about everything?" He nods, tossing down his cigarette Is it worth it? He nods tossing down his burnt out cigarette, while at the same time reaching for a new one. "First, I want to know who you REALLY are?" "I'm the devil in disguise. Did you ever have a doubt?" He grins and his cigarette with the flick of his wrist, the flame illuminating the dark lot. "Mr. Mulder. I'm a busy man." I know I can't procrastinate any longer. "Can I bum a smoke?" The man realizes now that I, too, have decided to become a player. He hands me a cigarette. I place it between my lips, lighting it, and choking down the putrid smoke. "Mulder!" A female voice echoes through the lot. It's Scully. "Scully, stay out of this." I warn her. "Please... Don't do this." She pleads. "You betrayed me! You went behind my back! On top of that, you sold your sold to this bastard.. out of SPITE! It's too late now. The deal's been made." "Miss Scully, You know he's right. We all make our own choices. You can't stop him." "No? Your right, I can't stop Mulder. But I can stop you worthless son of a bitch." Scully draws her gun, moving fast towards the smoking man at a speed faster than he can react to. She grabs him around the neck and pushes the cold, metal barrel of the gun into his temple. "The deal.. is off." I hear her hiss into his ear. "You won't shoot me." The blast screams through the lot. "I won't will I?" Her eyes light up and a smile forms on her face. The smoking man lies on the floor, his own blood forming a pool around his lifeless body. She nudges the body with the heel of her pumps. "Let's get out of here." .............................................................................. ....... FEEDBACK PLEASE!
