dtg
An author who always provides a good read is dtg.
This one rec will get you two. Go here:
http://home.earthlink.net/~dgoggans/
And check out "Promises" and "Fallout". Heck, check
out all of her stories.
"Fallout"
is a tale that shows how Robert Patrick Modell's mind
in "Pusher" is a lot more powerful than any of us
thought. I don't know any X-Phile who didn't like
this particular episode and dtg does it justice.
"Promises"
is -in her own words-a 'what if' based on "One Breath."
This particular story has a conversation between M
& S, which is one of my all time favorite fanfic moments.
See what you think.
I
like Deb's good, solid story- telling. I like how
she always gives the characters equal importance and
equal time. I like how she weaves the stories, in
a believable way, around all the characters. She stays
true and she writes well. dtg also is an author for
the Virtual Season 9 -I Made This Productions-where
her latest contribution is "Necessary Evil."
It wouldn't hurt *you* to check that one out as well,
but I make no promises where Mulder is concerned.

KEstabrook
If you've not read any of KEstabrook's stories, then
you've missed out on a lot of fun. KEstabrook always
writes a nice, clean story from start to finish, even
when she's torturing the poor man. And always with
perfect grammar. Her most recent story-but not the
only one you should read-is "A Christmas Peril".
Originally written for the Virtual Season, I urge
you to read it on Christmas Eve and make it a new
tradition with your family. I don't want to spoil
it for you, but you will be delighted with the whole
scenario behind this story. It has everything a good
XF Christmas story should have. Remember that this
story is set in a baby-less universe.
Please
go here:

and be prepared to stay awhile.
Karen
Estabrook always evokes very strong visual images.
I have always been able to "see" the characters, especially
Mulder, when she writes. I mean, since you're on her
page (see link above), read "The Best News" and
tell me you can't see Mulder's face.
One
last note. Please, please write her and nag her into
finishing her WIP, "I'll Be Watching You."
This is a story that has many elements woven together
in a tapestry of suspense, romance, and murder. Ask
her to finish it...she might listen to *you*.

Michelle
Kiefer
One of my favorite authors is Michelle Kiefer. Michelle's
writing is lyrical and moving. Her insights to the
characters are unparallelled, and she stays true to
them no matter what the situation. Whether it's a
casefile, post ep or stand alone, our Mulder and Scully
are intact---and wonderful. I was originally going
to just recommend "Hearts and Bones". Go here
to find it under casefiles:
http://members.aol.com/msrsmut/MichelleKiefer.htm
But
after browsing her site again, I saw so many wonderful
stories it was hard to choose just one. You'll have
the same problem once you get to her X-Files fanfic
site.
However,
"Hearts and Bones" *is* my favorite Post Season
8 story. It takes place in the year 2006, Mulder and
Scully do have a child, but they are still the same
people in every way. It can be done! Please go check
out this Spooky Award winning author, and stay awhile.
Take in the "Seaspray"... or visit the "Dream
House" just for fun.

Prufrock's
Love
If there is a better fanfic writer than Prufrock's
Love, then I don't know him/her. Prufrock, who has
no discernable gender, and accepts no feedback, has
written my favorite AU fanfic of all time. It's the
"Hiraeth" series-and it's finally completed.
Our
Mulder and Scully are beautifully written in a different
time and in a different context. But they jump out
of the pages of this historical novel in a truly remarkable
way. Believe me when I tell you I have no longstanding
interest in 12th century AD. However, I was captivated
and thoroughly engrossed in this whole saga.
XF
references and dialogue are cleverly inserted within
12th century Wales...but are not a distraction to
the story. Please go here:
http://www.geocities.com/prufrocks_love/
or the backup site when the bandwidth is exceeded:
http://prufrocksfic.tripod.com/thexfilesfanficofprufrockslove/index.html
and witness MSR in another life from long ago. When
she says: "You promised you would not leave me."

Rachel
Wilder
Rachel Wilder is a versatile writer with her heart
in all of the right places. I feel that she understands
the characters well, no matter what situation she
puts them in. If you had the opportunity to read
my
latest story, "In a Flash", I give Rachel Wilderand
her "Pieces"series, credit for the inspiration.
Please
go here:
http://rachelwilder.freeservers.com/xfiles/index.html#pieces
and this link will take you directly to "Pieces".
Her
writing is loving and sensitive without being schmoopy.
There are tragedies and successes. All of them very
real, and very well crafted by this author. Please
give this series a try. You'll feel good about it
afterwards.
